sometimes i think that because we jws were so deceived, tricked and flat out lied to by an organization that claims to be the sole representative of god, when we take the step to leave the group we (may) have a tendency to discard god as well, in the process.

i realize also there are those who by their nature (perhaps) and their point of view and ideology, that its just a natural personal kind of evolution that brings them to the point that god doesnt exist.

or, that if he does, it doesnt really play any kind of a roll in their lives.

For me.. the J.W.'s just screwed up God for me.

After 10 years, I still feel a loss of God or something higher than the top of my fridge.

I look toward transcendence of life or self but.... I just can't bring myself to believe it comes from the bible after being whacked by J.W.'s with it.

I think that believing is something higher than the top of ones fridge is healthy. It gives comfort when considering what ones believes to be unfathomunable (is that a word?).

My emptiness in this area of my life remains. A sadness about this, lives there.

I don't know what to tell my children to believe as pertains to God.. so I just try to teach them openess to allow others to believe what they want to believe and to enjoy others like different flavours of ice cream.(unless it is a cultish type religion ..such a J.W.'s , mormons, moonies, etc.)

Just got this email from my sister regarding my nephew's sleep apnea

as you know, last year-7th grade was extraordinarily difficult for b (and me).

toward the end of the school year, i took b to an adolescent psychologist to try to sort out the problems because i just couldn't figure it out.

the psychologist ran a battery of tests related to add/adhd and b came up negative on both counts.

My son had both adnoids and tonsils out at 6 years old.

He would always be struggling in his sleep and was continually restless, tossing and turning.

Actually his teacher was instrumental in suggesting we get him checked.

He was such a quiet boy... as the other children took off with their speech in grade primary and then sped up even faster in grade one.. He stopped talking more and more. Just one or two words or a sentence. He just didn't like talking much it seemed.

Her observance, through 20 years of teaching young children.. was that he couldn't really ever breathe through this nose and you need to breather through your nose in order to speak at any speed.

As other children sped up talking, he could not, so he just became more and more quiet.

The teacher was right. We had him checked by an ENT. His adnoids were overly large as well as his tonsils extremely large, plus he had numerous ear infections so wasn't hearing that well either.

His surgery was have his tonsils out, adnoids removed and tubes in his ears (all performed during the same surgery)

The difference in his breathing was IMMEDIATE as they wheeled him out of surgery. HE could breathe.

He could breathe, He slept WELL and longer, He became brighter and more alert.... and has slept like a log ever since.

When you think about it. If a child has these problems they are never really getting into their REM type of sleep. Also, different organs work at repairing and cleansing themselves only after we have been in a deeper type of sleep for sometimes a couple of hours.

With sleep apnea your never getting the rest you need to function properly.

in a moment of deep contemplative spirtual reflection (as in a mini micro second) it occured to me (perhaps driven by the holy spirit to be found in a bottle of johnnie walker blue label) that the time of the end has been revealed to me - is so simple to determine, yet hidden from the masses of unbelieving heathens aka the rest of mankind.. i am sure the right reverend canon will support me with this simple expose of bible chronology.. six thousand years of man's existence on the earth ended in 1975, but still not the time of the end, 'cause we didn't know how long it was before god became fed up with adam's fooling around with the animals (disgusted i should well imagine) and decided to give him a mate in his likeness.

goodness knows things would have been simpler if he had have put tits on a mans back.. since we know that the israelites determined that a man was not suitable for marriage until thirty years of age, then it is only right that eve was not given to adam until he was thirty.

1975 plus 30 years = (holy shit) 2005. the end is nigh!.

my wife and i joke about the differences in our own halls all the time.

i swear she lived in a country club compared to my hall.. just to give a couple of examples:.

and this is from when i was growing up until i left home at 18.. every single weekend was field service.

Its hard to think about all the time spent in going to meetings and going in service.

It consumes such a large chunk of one's life.

But what I feel really in awe about concerning your post ... is that today, your parents aren't Jehovahs Witnesses anymore.

Are you serious? After all that forced regimented inflexible fanatically lording everybody in the family that couldn't ever miss a meeting and now they are no longer J.W.s.. Now that is AMAZING.

I do find your account of how it was in your kingdom hall to the extreme. They sound like the Congregation from Hell to me.

I'm glad I was not in that congregation.. My abusive controlling father was bad enough. He would have LOVED IT THERE!!
